First up, congratulations on being a raw foodist or if you are not, then the interest in getting to other raw food singles. Going raw is an amazing journey and can have a huge impact on your lifestyle as I am sure you know. I know this from my own personal experience. I can understand how you would be looking at raw food dating as opposed to dating singles on a SAD diet (Standard American Diet or Standard Australian Diet). It becomes philosophical as well as health related I find, so you really want to align yourself with other raw food singles or even friends on a similar path.
With raw food dating, you are narrowing your range of available singles simply because the percentage of people on a raw food diet is lower. That does not mean you should not look at raw food dating but what it does mean is that there are some things you might want to consider. There may be potential raw food singles and friends who are currently vegan or vegetarian and in transition to raw.
Some people will not state they are raw if they are only part raw or transitioning to raw and therefore might not be listed for raw food dating but rather listed on vegan dating or this vegetarian dating site.
5 Tips for Raw Food Dating
Tip 1 – Expand your options
In order to expand your options you might want to put a profile on more than one raw food dating site. You may be able to find a local meet up that is free to join and you can do that here. If you are in Melbourne then you can join the raw food meetup group here. I will be covering other areas of Australia in future articles.
There may be enough compatibility on the food path for you to date or form a friendship with vegans and vegetarians. Often what happens is that people ask questions about your lifestyle and then share recipes. Vegans and vegetarians will quite possibly be more open to listening to how you go about a raw food lifestyle. As a result, a natural progression to raw food can happen.
Tip 2 – Keep it to a time frame
First best step with most dates is to just get together for a drink. When raw food dating, this might mean a green smoothie, juice or some other raw food drink such as a fermented drink such as kombucha. That way you are not left twiddling your thumbs over dinner if the chemistry is not there, but it is still enough time to make pleasant conversation and get to know the other person a little. Just having a drink on your first date can also be better because itputs less pressure on you to find a good raw food restaurant. In Melbourne, there are more and more restaurants offering raw food on their menu so you can always plan this for your next date.
The alternative to this is that you find a good place to eat out but go for a drink in the late afternoon. Then, if you want to share more time together you can move it on to dinner as a natural progression.
Tip 3 – You ‘in da know’ baby
If you are new to the area then check out raw food restaurants in the area for eating out before you take your date there or find out if they have a preference. Do your research and know how to get there so you are not late and it shows you have taken the time to select somewhere, especially if you are a guy. Most girls like a guy to take the lead and make the decision for them about where to dine.
Tip 4 – Save the debate for the pollies (politicians)
If you are not dating strictly raw food singles then, unless asked, it is better that you do not try to convert your date with continual banter on why they need to go raw. Sure, if asked, offer your opinion or some handy tips that helped you go raw but also respect their views and don’t go on and on and on. Sometimes a gentle introduction to the raw food lifestyle is better than a crash course with no exit. And believe me, your date will want an exit if you take the approach of ‘the raw way or no way’ in the first five minutes of meeting.
Tip 5 – Fun and Flirty
No, I said fun and flirty, not fun and dirty. If you don’t know them, don’t sext them. It is inappropriate. Have some other tricks up your sleeve for conversation so that you are not talking food the whole time. Don’t make it a ‘moi, moi, it’s all about moi’ date and especially don’t make it a talk about your ex. You’ll get slapped with a ‘boring’ stamp as your date hot tails it to the door.
It is a fun and exciting time and I wish you success with raw food dating and meeting that someone special – who’s into raw food, and into you, of course. 🙂 Look forward to hearing about your raw food dating experience so please leave a comment below and share my article with other singles.
